30 Day Manga Challenge: Day 7 – Your Manga Crush

A part of me has been really looking forward to today’s challenge and a part of me hasn’t been at all. It’s a fun challenge but I’ll likely never live it down among my closest friends. Nevertheless here’s my answers for my manga crush!

DengekiDaisy

We’ll kick things off with Tasuku Kurosaki from Dengeki Daisy. I’m not sure why I like this character as much as I do, it’s probably something to do with his design and his hair. To begin with Kuroskai comes off as a really rough and unlovable character but as we see him and Teru get closer it’s clear he’s not all bad. He’s a tease and will relentlessly pick on poor Teru, but that side of him can often be a little charming too – especially later on in the series when his character has had time to grow. Deep down he cares deeply about his friends and family and would do anything for them if needs be so he’s definitely not a bad guy.

Vampire Knight Volume 17

Ah Kaname Kuran how I both love and deeply hate you. From the start I knew there was something not quite right about this character and that he wasn’t going to stay on the side of ‘good’ for long… and that he’d probably hurt my dear Yuki. Oh boy did Kaname prove me right. Yet despite all the pain he puts Yuki through and how dark and dangerous the character becomes I can’t help but to still hold a certain fondness for him. Damn you Kaname and your charming ways… Again I think it’s something about the hair that drew me to his design overall.

There has always been something about The Legend of Zelda series. I’ve loved it for a long time now and eagerly await every release, but I’m also a big fan of the manga and like what Akira Himekawa does with each tale. Link is a knight, he’s like a character from your favourite childhood story who beats the big bad guy and protects all those in need of protection. It’s not so much that I have a crush on Link as it is the childish side of me admires him for being everything you want in a hero.

Right. With that evil challenge over I can look forward to something easier tomorrow. Wait, I have to pick my favourite manga couple? Nooooo. This daily challenge thing is not easy.

    I knew that I would love reading your answers for this challenge and you definitely did not disappoint! You don’t need to worry too much about never living it down however because all three of these crushes were common knowledge long before you wrote this. You would have continued to be teased forever whether you’d written this or not. :3

    Hmm… HMM. My manga crush. If only I’d already read more into Fairy Tail or Soul Eater, I’d have several shameless choices. But as it currently stands… I also really, really like Kurosaki from Dengeki Daisy, and unlike you I haven’t even read that far into the manga to see how he develops. Even his rougher personality snared my attention within the first volume. ^^; I’m not sure why I like him so much but it’s likely a mixture between his public and private personalities – the way he’s both a tease yet incredibly caring and protective – and his design. He’s a nice looking fellow, yes. I like his hair too, yes… Every time I read Dengeki Daisy I find myself muttering “I wish I had a boyfriend like that…”. Curse you, manga! ;_;
