Six months through the year, the backlog continues to tower but it was a quieter month for new arrivals so I’ve been playing catchup with my reading while playing more Zelda and Final Fantasy 16.

It has been a busy month! Lots of new manga and light novels arriving, and work picking up again. I’m hoping to have read away a little bit of the backlog in these last few weeks, but let’s see how I’ve done.

Made it through April somehow! As usual, work got busy over Easter and I spent a good chunk of time gaming as I aimed to (and achieved) finishing Tales of Arise at long last. But I still found plenty of time to read too, so let’s see what I read away this month.
Three months into the year, unbelievably. A difficult time for manga fans in the UK as Kodansha revealed US exclusive K Manga. Although I suppose that at least won’t be contributing to the backlog problem… Anyways let’s see how my reading went in March.
Finally, time for this blog to be used for something that isn’t just the monthly reading log! Last year I gave myself a new project because I realised I was spending a lot of money on manga and figured there had to be a more cost-effective way of reading as much as I do without breaking the bank. Particularly with English releases continuing to go up in price. So it occurred to me that I should just go straight to the source and cut out buying volumes (especially in English) and instead look at reading series during their magazine runs. This isn’t to stop me buying volumes full stop, but to prevent blind buys and assure I’m only purchasing series I really want to own.
Time for the second reading log of 2023. I think the structure I implemented last month worked well, so going to keep that one going forward. Let’s take a look at how things worked out!
The first log of the year! This year I’ve decided to change things up a bit and split all the one-shots I read into a separate count since I’ve been reading an increasing amount and I don’t think they should hold the same weight as reading a whole volume of manga. So what I will probably do is structure the lists as manga > one-shots > light novels. For the sake of my sanity, I’m keeping the end of serialisations in with manga volumes, since I usually have read at least 4~ chapters a month and I feel like that should hold the same weight as a whole volume overall and I don’t want to add another heading. One-shots will all be JP unless otherwise stated and I won’t bother bolding them since, well, they’re done y’know.
With that said let’s get into my January log!
Final reading log of 2022! This time I can add in some fun stats and charts to see how my backlog and reading have been going this year. But first, let’s find out how much I read in December.
Almost Christmas time again aaaa. November has been a quieter month on the whole, so for once I feel like I’ve read more steadily than usual. Let’s get into what I’ve read!
